This Earth Day feels a bit different for everyone. We're in a global slowdown, and it's incredibly challenging in so many ways. If there's one silver lining coming out of all this turmoil, it's that our planet has a moment to heal itself. Today we're gonna focus on that.

IS THIS THING ON?  We’d like to give some much needed recognition to the single parents out there. Your job was never easy, but it just got a lot more challenging. We’d like to suggest you play a game of hide and seek with your kids, and you take your sweet, sweet, sweet time finding them.

Food has and always will be a universal love language—a delicious excuse to press pause, sit down, and share. History is full of human hardships that change the landscape of our daily lives, but one thing that has survived the test of time is our ability to make food into a community ritual. Right now, our ability to safely gather around a meal, provide for our community and protect our people are at odds with one another. Because of that, Laughing Planet has made the challenging decision to close its doors until we can share a meal the way it’s intended, together. We WILL be back because food is forever. Until then, Laughing Planet will be teaming up with our long time partners at @streetroots and @blanchethouse to make sure our existing resources can be used for good. ❤️🌯❤️

Aiming to Re-open May 5th

Hi family,&nbsp;



These are uncertain times for all of us and we feel the collective weight of this experience. We’ve always done our best to <a href="https://covid19.laughingplanet.blog">show up for our community</a> when and how we can, and we will continue to do so—but for now, given the current circumstances we’ve made the decision to close our doors at our University location. 



We’ll be back. Tables, hearts and bellies will be full again. When things get wild, don’t forget to let yourself laugh—it’s good for your health!

Miyu is currently a senior studying Art and Journalism at the University of Nevada, Reno. She&#8217;s an international student hailing from Japan and moved to Reno 3 years ago. Miyu is passionate about graphic design as well as photography.

By supporting those businesses, you help them in their efforts. That’s pretty simple.



Next: you are going to eat, you are going to shop,&nbsp;so&#8230;



<ul><li>Do some homework and see that you are aligned with the business you drop your hard earned cash into.&nbsp;</li></ul>



A lot of businesses care more about the bottom line than the world in which they inhabit.



Yvonne Chouinard, founder of <a href="https://www.patagonia.com/company-info.html">Patagonia</a>, asks his marketing teams: How is what we are doing saving the Planet? 



We jumped on that bandwagon as well, it&#8217;s become a common conversation at good ole Laughing Planet.&nbsp; We’re trying our darnedest to walk the talk. While we’re not perfect, we try really hard to limit our impact on this wonderful Earth and to work on helping sustain it and make it a better place for everyone.

We have a new Jazz Jam poster!

Every second Thursday of the month at 5:30 p.m., the University of Nevada Reno’s Core Humanities Program collaborates with Laughing Planet Reno and the <a href="https://www.unr.edu/liberal-arts">College of  Liberal Arts</a> to co-host a public engagement series designed to showcase research by UNR faculty and graduate students, while having important conversations with our local communities.

After months of waiting, the construction near Laughing Planet Midtown, on St. Lawrence Street and Tahoe Street is DONE. 



Getting to LP Midtown has never been easier. We’ve got new street parking and a fresh evenly paved parking lot. With the University back in session, parking at LPU is limited but LP Midtown is eagerly awaiting you.
